Deeds Not Words Limited Edition Print - A4
We've released this print to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the passing of the ‘Representation of the People Act’ on the 6th of February 1918. This bill was the first to give women the vote in the UK, although only those over the age of 30 and who owned their own home or land, or were married to a landowner.
It is emblazoned with the Women's Social and Political Union motto and printed in their colours; purple for dignity, white for purity and green for hope, with gold for the celebration text.
This A4 print has been composed with a mixture of original woodblock and lead type and hand printed with our Jardine treadle platen printing press onto Conqueror 100% cotton card stock.
As all our work is produced by hand, each impression is unique and as such, there will be minor variations from card to card. The designs are composed from original, antique woodblock and lead type and as such we do not deboss heavily into the card stock as this permanently damages the type.
